A police report was filed and sent to the Montgomery County Juvenile Court. The Court reviewed the case, and since it fit the criteria, referred you and the other party to mediation as an alternative to traditional court procedures.
What can I expect to happen on the day of my mediation?
With the help of a mediator, you will be able to talk with the other party about your concerns. The mediator will help you write any agreements or accomplishment reached in the mediation. This document will be given to the Court for their records. If the agreement is not followed by any of the parties, the Court will take further action.
How can I prepare for my mediation?
To prepare for your mediation it can be helpful to think about what you want and need in regard to your situation. If your child is involved, ask what he or she needs too. If there are any expenses that you wish to discuss, such as medical bills or repairs, you can bring copies of these.
What happens if my case is not resolved in mediation
The Dayton Mediation Center will inform the Montgomery County Juvenile Court that the parties did not resolve their situation. The Court will review the case to determine the next step.
